IN UGANDA JANUARY, '91

      Twenty-six years ago in January and February we were in a portion of Uganda that was in the main city of Kampala, a side city of Jinja which is right on the Nile River, and about 40 miles north from that Kampala to what was called New Hope Uganda.  The NHU, when we were there, we saw wonderful leaders and they did some teaching and some to fix the acre area.  We sure met met many.  We were at churches in Kampala and, suddenly, I was a preacher in a couple churches and was teaching kids.  Dave and I did what we could.  We didn't know when or how the Lord would have us there again, and we were there in early September, '94 and back and forth a few times.  Here in Omaha or there in Uganda.  We wanted to be there forever, but the Lord used us in unusual ways.  Just wanted to show a few small photos that are so special re: what we did.  Always worth a smile!  I've put the Word of God on some of these photos when sharing.  SO here they are.   OH... and we've had so many "sons", "daughters", "grandkids" from there.  We hear from them and are filled with love from several.    [AND sorry if I didn't say the words right.  I'm struggling with my dementia brain issue. AND being in Uganda several times was a God-gift!]

TRUTHFULISM RE: MY LIGHT!

        This is an everyday thinking and worshiping piece.  I've read it yesterday and saw this today when looking through a pile of Ugandan photos, and this grabbed me and my attention.  All I  do, moment-by-moment, day-by-day, night-by-night, is to worship and focus on the Lord.  That's all that counts for me any more.

HIS GOODNESS IS WHAT I COUNT ON!

     With my brain and body issues now, especially since a few days ago it was indicated through a hospital that I can't drive a car any more.  So, instead of driving around and worshiping through towns and many locations, all I can focus on is serving the Lord and worshiping the Lord in my house -- day or night -- and turning my heart to serve Him more and more. 
    Sometimes I'm crying, b/c this is such a new piece of my life.  I was a protector and keeper, especially when the seriousness of my family was laid on me strongly since I was 6 -- protected my sisters who were younger than me, and I was a babysitter, especially when I was 7, and until I graduated about 10-1/2 years later when I was just shy of 18.  Touch Cookie for years.  Grateful that the Lord broke strongly and kindly into me when I was 20.  So, around our nation and a couple nations in the world, especially Uganda,  I've still been used to help and protect people.  Now I'm home.  HOPE, HOPE, HOPE to be in Heaven in the not-distant future.
      Blessings-- in spite of the fact that I'm just here now -- I've surrounded to many of my family and friends -- here and other parts of the world -- through praying and worshiping and glorifying the Lord is all I can do!

CHRISTMAS PIECES HERE AND IN UGANDA!

     About the December of 1992, Dave and I chose a Jesus born stretch.  It was very big and was being set aside by the shop.  I guess they didn't think people would want it in their home.  We did then, and often we do it now.  I just took this photo a couple days ago.

        AND the coffee table is filled with it!  We have to be careful when walking from the kitchen or bathroom area, b/c we could stumble against it when it's so wide.  But we love it and watch carefully.
       When we were going to Uganda in '94, we thought we'd be there forever, so other than the stable piece we had, the others were taken.  When we had a home in the Kampala area [Katelemwa] right before Christmas, and we had been given 4 kids from one family to teach ... Dave did computer and piano and other things, and I did a bit of the English class situation and teaching books ... and, even though we didn't have couches or anything people could sit on, we sat on the floor.  And we put this piece then.  And their brother didn't sit there right then in the living room.  The girls were excited and filled with joyfulness to be right there!  Never had anything like this in Uganda.

From the red-ish color on the left to the right portion with the door portion was all the living room then.  Quite wonderful.

           About a year later, we were at New Hope Uganda in the house that the teacher for the Jay and Vickie Dangers kids.  We were doing what we could do.  AND the house was a lot smaller than our previous one.

      When we had just gotten there, and had our stuff to put in the place, it was quite a bit of stuff.  And this was our kitchen room and our living room.  You can see that brown seat on both of the pictures.  One on the left side in the kitchen and the other on the right portion.  Actually, that was at our table. It was quite a time.
       Well, we had our Christmas piece with us, and we had put it on a table back in the corner.  Eventually, a few kids were brought in and we held the kids and we showed all of it to them.  It was on a small table, right back in that corner that you could see.  Anyhow, one thing happened then, when a young kid grabbed one of them and broke a piece of it.  I cried.

And it's on our table, as usual.  Just thought I'd remind you.

        A miracle is that we still have used it in our homes for all these years.  It's been 20 years now since that happened. So, this is what it still looks like.  I don't cry again, but I always smile!  And I'm amazed and grateful how the Lord let us keep it.  Here it is!  I'll show the group again, and then the last piece of the men who had come to give gifts to Jesus.

  

[OH, and the rock piece is what Dave and I got in Canada at Thunder Bay, Ontario.  A week after our wedding we were at that place for a couple hours and got that rock.  We've smiled at it forever!]

 

 

HE IS THE LIGHT!! HALLELUJAH!!

      That is what I count on ... today, tomorrow, or forever.  My heart is so intense re: our present-day world being so full of sinfulness and the sinfulness being accepted by many.
      I was finishing Ezekiel today, and he was going through many people in that portion of the eastern world who were significantly sinful, even with the kings, princes, and temple leaders.  He was used by the Lord to see much from many places and he was sorrowful and heart-broken... and worshiping the Lord and protecting people in the nations where they had been when the wars had been in place and they'd been dragged to other countries.  He was encouraging and re-teaching them.  
     Next, I'll be reading Daniel, and he was also used significantly.  And others.  That's what I bless on when reading, and I turn to the Lord and bless Him as He will turn many of us to see Him strongly with the "Light".  All I can count on forever!!

ACTIVITY IN UGANDA...

 Dave and I did a lot in Uganda, even from the very beginning portion.  He taught one special boy how to build something for the orphanage situation.  Dave really loved Elijah, and he died just about a few months later for something in his lungs.  Dave has thought of him often, and hopes to see Elijah when Dave is in Heaven.

Dave had me preaching at a variety of places there, and he always told them that I was "it".  As a man he was always drawn to the preaching situation and he always turned it to me immediately.  Can't say I did perfectly, but did what I could.  He also had me teaching the kids in a variety of places and I did a good job on that.  He was taking the pictures and doing a video piece very often.  He was an amazing man then... and he truly is now.   Anyhow, I'll show what he did for me in Uganda in early '91.

 

 

 

Hope you'll smile.  OH, and the place where the roof stuff was so bad is a bit different than we would ever understand.  The church people were there on Sunday, but it was a school place during the week.  Pretty awful to think of what kids were going through.  We'd never agree with that in our nation.

 

CURTAINS OF HEAVEN IN UGANDA!

EARLY IN THE MORNING USUALLY.

DIDN'T USUALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE 

OF WHERE WE WERE STAYING IN THAT NATION.

 THIS GRABBED MY HEART THEN,

AND, RECENTLY, WHEN LOOKING THROUGH 

THOUSANDS OF PHOTOS WE'VE TAKEN 

AROUND AND ABOUT

IN MY HOUSE, OUR CITY, THE STATES, AND THE NATIONS, AND INCLUDING CLOUDS, SUN, MOON, TREES, BIRDS,

AND MANY, MANY OTHER THINGS,

I REJOICE WHEN I SEE WHAT GRABS

MY HEART AGAIN.

WE LOVED BEING IN UGANDA THOSE SEVERAL TIMES 

WHEN GOD SENT US THERE,

AND DAVE AND I WENT ASAP.

AND WOULD LOVE TO BE THERE AGAIN.

OH, AND WHEN I'M IN HEAVEN I HOPE I CAN SEE IT 

EXACTLY THE WAY IT IS AGAIN!!

YIPPEE!!

THE LORD DEFINITELY PUT US THERE,

SO I TRUST HIM FOR THE SIGNIFICANT FOREVERNESS

FROM OUR HEAVENLY FATHER.

GOD IS LIGHT!

WHAT WE CAN COUNT ON

FOREVER AND EVER!

THE LORD'S BLESSING...

WE HAD BEEN HOME FROM UGANDA FOR THE SUMMER

TO EARN ENOUGH MONEY TO GO BACK.

DAVE WORKED FOR A MAN AT THE CHURCH 

WHERE WE HAD BEEN FOR ABOUT FIVE YEARS.

CARL DECIDED TO PUT DAVE AND HIS OTHER 

WORKER AT HABITAT FOR A WEEK.

I WAS WORKING AT A SECRETARIAL JAIL

 SITUATION IN COUNCIL BLUFF, IA.

IT WAS A CHALLENGE RE: OUR JOBS,

BUT WE LOVED IT AND WE WERE APPRECIATED.

WELL, WE WENT BACK TO UGANDA.

HOWEVER, I TOOK THIS PHOTO OF DAVE THEN,

AND HAVE ALWAYS SMILED WHEN I SAW IT.

THE WORD WORKS NOW VERY WELL,

BECAUSE THE LORD'S BLESSING

IS ALL WE CAN EVER COUNT ON,

FOREVER!

NEW HOPE UGANDA, 1995

AND IT WAS A COUPLE MONTHS AFTER THE HABITAT IN OMAHA.

AND HERE AND THERE HE WAS A PIANO TEACHER AND A COMPUTER TEACHER, AND WAS A MATH AND 

SCIENCE TEACHER IN UGANDA.

I WAS A SECRETARY AT NHU, AND A BOOK TEACHER AND FRENCH LANGUAGE TEACHER THEN.  LIFE HAS SIGNIFICANTLY

CHANGED FOR ME SINCE THEN.

I LOVED IT THERE! AND WAS APPRECIATED.

BOTH OF US STILL HAVE HEARD WONDERFUL

 THINGS ABOUT US FROM FRIENDS THERE--

SOME IN UGUANDA OR IN U.S., CANADA, ENGLAND --

 AND FB-ING AND THANKING US.

THANK YOU, JESUS, FOR BREAKING INTO OUR LIVES

AND BLESSINGS US!

 

AND FOR YEARS HE'S CONTINUED TO BE A 

PIANO/ORGAN PLAYER/TEACHER AND FIXING 

ANYTHING IN ANY HOME OR ANY CHURCH

AND FIXING COMPUTERS FOR PEOPLE,

AND USUALLY GIVING COMPUTERS AWAY AS A

MINISTRY/MISSIONARY GIFT, INSTEAD OF PAYMENT.

HE'S A BLESSING TO MANY!

INCLUDING ME!! FILLED MY HEART WITH LOVE!

WE ALL ARE OFTEN IGNORED.

A SIGNIFICANT FAMILY CHALLENGE HAD BEEN TAKING PLACE DURING THE YEAR BEFORE AND THE YEAR AFTER, AND THE "LIGHT" CAME FORWARD.  MY SORROWFULNESS HAS REDUCED.  EVEN THOUGH I HAVE READ THE PSALMS MANY, MANY TIMES, THIS VERSE HAD TRULY KICKED INTO ME IN OCTOBER, '07.  WHEN READING IT TODAY, I FELT THAT THE LORD LAID IT ON ME TO SHARE WITH OTHERS SO THEY WILL CONSISTENTLY LOOK FORWARD TO HIS 

LIGHT.

SING TO THE LORD

AND I'VE "LOST" HER,

BUT NEVER STOPPED LOVING HER.
