JOY OF THE LORD...

THIS PHOTO WAS TAKEN AT LEAST A DOZEN YEARS AGO AND IT'S ONE OF MY GRANDDAUGHTERS.  ALTHOUGH NOT 5 THEN, SHE'D HAVE BEEN WITHIN THE SAME AGE RANGE AS PAYTON.

=================
GRIEF AND DEPRESSION ARE HEAVY TODAY
IN OUR CITY, OMAHA.
A 5-YEAR OLD GIRL, PAYTON,
WAS "ACCIDENTALLY" MURDERED YESTERDAY.
GANGS WERE SHOOTING AT EACH OTHER,
DRIVING AROUND AND ABOUT,
AND A BULLET WENT THROUGH A HOUSE
AND KILLED THE LITTLE GIRL
WHILE SHE WAS EATING BREAKFAST.

WE'RE HAVING FIRST RESPONDERS TODAY IN FRONT OF HER HOME.  IT'S COLD TODAY AND VERY, VERY  WINDY,
BUT WE CAN'T NOT GO THERE.
 WE MUST!

ALL WE CAN DO, EVER DO, IS TRUST IN THE LORD, AND ALLOW HIM TO BE OUR STRENGTH AND STRONGHOLD.

THE ONLY GOOD THING, AT THE MOMENT, IS KNOWING PAYTON IS IN HEAVEN, NO PAIN, NO SORROW, SEEING FAMILY AND FRIENDS, HOLDING HANDS WITH ANGELS AND WITH JESUS.

While she was eating breakfast. You'd expect gangs to be shooting at each other at night.

So sad. :(

Dear Joanne
Things like this leaves one speechless. In South Africa on the Cape Flats a sis year old boy was also shot this week by a stray bullet in a fight between two gangs. I am just so thankful that he is not dead. It was on his first day to school.

That is gut wrenching news… My sadness is in conflict with the anger I have in me for those punks who only think of themselves!!!

I'm praying for the family, to find comfort somehow… I can't even imagine…

Praying for you and your team as well, Joanne.

Oh, Caryjo. Your photo made me laugh with joy, and then the horrible news. That's how it happens in life, too, isn't it? So often tragedy hits so unexpectedly But right in her house, eating breakfast! I have a very beloved six-year old granddaughter, so this really grieves me. Praying for the family.

A tragedy. Pure and simple. May His grace somehow cut through this nightmare for that family, your community, CaryJo ...

Thank you for sharing this sad story with us and it is a reminder to pray for these gangs who think shooting will bring peace.
